Johnny Depp in Public Enemy as John Dillenger

Johnny Depp in Public Enemy as John Dillinger

Born: John Christopher Depp II

Johnny Depp gets my vote as Boomer Hot Male numero uno.

My God, what an actor, my God, what a man, my God, what a movie.

Depp reminded me of Val Kilmer in his top movies. The band members from the Doors said it was really eerie with Kilmer, they said he didn’t portray Jim Morrison, he became Jim Morrisson. Same with Doc Holliday, Val Kilmer is everyone’s Doc Holliday.

Well, same goes for Johnny Depp, he didn’t portray Dillinger, he was Dillinger in this film. And, what a beautifully gorgeous John Dillinger he makes. Wow.

Michael Mann, if I wore a hat, it would be off to you man. Kudos to Mann for the impeccable eye for detail. The costumes are fabulous, it is as if Mann was reincarnated from that era. The way they dressed is from one of my favorite eras, when men dressed up as gentlemen, and women as elegant women. The costumes really brought the period to life. The beautiful old cars and blast from the past–how they rode on the fender boards of the cars; true to life.

The decor also was spot on in the homes and offices. Everything…right down to the way they painted their nails red up to the moons on the nails–which was left bare, with only base and top coat. Even the shoes were from the era. For me, their meticulousness of the era, made the movie believable and enjoyable–I’m still enjoying it four days after viewing it.

You know what else gets my vote for Mann and this movie? There was no cursing and it was wonderful. No f-bombs to duck…it truly showed the respectful elegance of this generation. They even used the custom of calling people by Mr… and Mrs….

Have heard some say the movie was too long. Don’t know where they were sitting or what they were smoking, but then again, I could watch Depp clip his toenails and be ecstatic about it. Needless to say, the time flew by for me.

Another Natalie Wood

Johnny Depp and award winning actress Marion Colbert have an incredible chemistry together.

Marion Cotillard and Depp have an incredible chemistry together. She reminds me of a young Natalie Wood and her performance was as good as Depp’s. Watching the two of them together was fascinating, as they wove the story of two very-believable lovers and how they couldn’t stay apart.

The casting was great, can’t think of anyone I would take out or put in.

I do recommend this movie because of the eye for detail, the costumes, the partnerships and for anyone who is interested in Dillinger. There is violence, so if people being shot bothers you–and some of it is in slo-mo, then this wouldn’t be enjoyable. Usually, for me, the violence gets in the way of the movie, since I knew the story of Dillinger, it didn’t offend me because it was dealing with the facts. Not using the violence as gratuitous–there was more substance to the movie than the violence. It was part of the Dillinger life.

Boomer Hot…Sarah Palin

sarah-palin-in-dover-2008My vote for number one Boomer Hot is Sarah Palin.

If you are wondering what standards we hold for Boomer Hot, here it is:

Boomer Hot is earned by growing into life full throttle. When life gets messy—if you’re Boomer Hot, life does get messy once in awhile (it’s part of what makes you interesting), you handle it with grace and honesty—or discretion. And then, there’s that sex appeal…the charisma. It’s in the eyes…in the demeanor. The intensity is right there. You see it. You feel it.

Boomer Hot is taking care of addictions—not letting them run you at this age in the game. Plus, most Boomer Hot’s do not take themselves too seriously and most have a wonderful sense of humor.

Lastly, Boomer Hot is about doing something bigger than you. Creating…

Boomer Hot is the Whole Package

It is amazing to me how our press magnifies her and her family. How she is held to an impossible standard of behavior by some. My honey says if we held all of our politicians to the scrutiny and magnification of Sarah, we would have no politicians left. They wouldn’t make the cut.

Sarah Palin is the epitomy of Boomer Hot and she is smart, straight forward, interesting, and has created something bigger than herself. What a refreshing woman.

She has a great marriage to a man she is in very much in love with and who is her best friend. Life-long friends and close family ties. She didn’t sit in her chair at night bitching about what was wrong with her children’s school, she got off the couch and joined the PTA. Made it better. Decided there was more to do, so got into the city council. Made it better. Became a mayor. Made it better. Became a beloved Governor. Made it better.

There has been no scandal, no corrupt dealings, no acorn-isms following her around. Lots of nuts who have tried to pull her down. But, you know what happens in a bucket of crabs. One raises to the top and the others grab onto it and pull it back down…

Sarah, you have style and class, peace and blessings to you for an incredible life filled with joy and much love. You are a good woman Sarah Palin.
